ALL LOVED UP

You never, ever write and you never, ever phone
But once there was a time you couldn't leave me alone
It was almost as if we joined at the hip
With super glue and double-sided tape
It was all racing pulses and languid limbs
Delicious absurdities and pseudonyms
It was all warm and curious by my inside pocket
You'd melted my aorta

Why did you do those things the way you did, the way I tried
There's nothing I could say, nothing I could do
If only you'd talked about it instead of waiting, hesitating
I could've been all loved up with you

I realised that I loved you when it didn't bother me
When you eat your chicken balti off my Hawkwind LP
And I let you wipe your nose on my favourite sleeve
Which was 'Sticky Fingers' by the Stones
I suppose I should've known it was too good to be true
But you know what it was like when I stood in front of you
I was besotted by your ears, nose and throat
In fact I loved your bones

Why did you do those things the way you did, the way I tried
There's nothing I could say, nothing I could do
If only you'd talked about it instead of waiting, hesitating
I could've been all loved up with you

But all of a sudden our lovin' cup
Shattered, runneth over and went tits up
I didn't know whether to draw a line, line a drawer or have a liquorice allsort
But I miss you more now than I missed you then
And when your karma kills your dogma says the little book of zen
If your heart had a heart to heart you know it wouldn't lie

Why did you do those things the way you did, the way I tried
There's nothing I could say, nothing I could do
If only you'd talked about it instead of waiting, hesitating
I could've been all loved up with you
